If you like the cou
ntry life, tractors, horses, cattle and fresh air, and want to experience the great wide open, then Ranchstay is for you! Experience the vast openness of Marlboro country and be part of a local farming family. Ranchstay is for the cowboy/cowgirl at heart looking to spend some time on a ranch or farm away from all the bright lights and big cities.
Ranchstay is for people looking to learn something about the community where they are placed and farming in general. Ranchstay gives you the chance to become involved with family activities and you can use all facilities of the farm, i.e. riding their horses, driving the tractor etc. The program is not only about farming; it is a cultural exchange program where you get a real insight into local culture, mentality etc. The family takes you along when they visit neighbours, when they do their grocery shopping or when they go to events like rodeos, community festivals.
You will be specifically matched with a family that can provide the right experience for you based on your interests, and who is interested in your profile. You will need to be interested in rural communities, animals, and be physically fit and not afraid of a little dirt. Also you will need riding experience if you want to be placed on a horse ranch.
For those of you who would like to learn more about a different type of natural horsemanship (non-resistance training) and accelerate their horsemanship skills, both on the ground and in the saddle, INTERNeX and Falling Star Ranch offer a mentorship program where you will learn the philosophy and non-resistance methodology of world-renowned horse trainer, coach and clinician Chris Irwin (www.chrisirwin.com). This program is suitable for any rider and it is an outstanding opportunity for horsemen and horsewomen who wish to become future equine professionals.
